Celebrating Labour Day

The Origin of Labour Day:

The Haymarket affair in Chicago in 1886 marked a turning point, where workers protested for an eight-hour workday, leading to clashes with the police. In memory of those who lost their lives in the protests, Labour Day was officially recognised as a holiday by the International Socialist Congress in 1889.

India has a comprehensive framework of labour laws aimed at protecting the rights of workers and ensuring fair labour practices. Some key aspects of Indian labour laws include:
